A locally/family owned agency founded in 1987,Basset Hound Rescue League (BHRL)
is a non-profit 501(c)(3) adoption agency for Basset Hounds (and other hounds), operated exclusively by volunteers. Dedicated to the welfare of Basset Hounds and Beagles,
BHRL
also rescues, rehabilitates, and relocates Dachshunds, Welsh Corgis, and other hound mixes as space permits. We have over 30 years of experience and have rescued hundreds of dogs and have kept them out of shelters (some of our rescues come from shelters).
A veterinarian examines every dog that we rescue. The dogs are checked for parasites, given immunizations, and either spayed or neutered. We also pay for any necessary medical treatment the dogs need to get healthy enough for placement in foster or permanent homes. We'll then place the dog in the home of a potential adopter for a trial period. During the trial period, a member of
BHRL
will periodically check on how you and your dog are getting along. The volunteer will be available for advice. If a potential or permanent home is not available, the dog is placed in a foster home or a boarding facility until a home is available.
At
BHRL, we are all volunteers giving our time, efforts, and funds to help the hounds. 100% of donations received by
BHRL
go directly to our rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
